Alas!  and did  my Savior bleed and did my Sov’reign die?
7   -8     8    -8  7    8 -9   9  -10   9      8    -8   8 -9    8    -8 7
Would He devote  that  sacred head for such   a  worm as I?
 
7   -8     8      8  8      8       -9     8   8    -8    7    -8
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
-8      8   -9  -9   -9  -9   -9       9      -9 8
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
-8  8     -9    8     -8   8   -9   8     -8    7
It was there by faith I received my sight,
   8    -8   -8  7  -7 -9   8   -8    7
And now I am happy all the day!
